Carbon-Fiber Sand-Scoop Handles for T-Rex scoops
Our
Sand-Scoop Handles are premium-quality, heavy-duty 46 1/2" handles. The handles are cut at a 20 degree angle at the "scoop end," have a 6" plastic core at the lower end, for extra
reinforcement where the handle inserts into the scoop. The handles are foam-filled, and include a soft PVC hand grip at the upper end. The handles also feature a textured surface for enhanced
gripping, when wet (similar to the "sharkskin" or "fish scale" surface you may know from some other high-quality handles). Finally, handles for Stealth and Xtreme scoops include a marine-grade 316
stainless-steel threaded insert in the lower end, as well as a marine-grade stainless-steel screw and fender washer.
Handles for all other scoops attach with a bolt through the scoop's sleeve, so one hole needs to be drilled through the handle when you fit it (the bolt is not included). I don't pre-drill
the hole, because it needs to line up exactly with
your scoop's sleeve -- small differences between scoops, even of the same model, mean it's always best done with the scoop and handle
together in your hands. It's an easy job, and I'm happy to walk you through it.
About the fit. Scoops with a fixed sleeve vary slightly in inside diameter from one scoop to the next, even within the same model. That's partly normal steel-tube tolerance, and
partly welding: the heat from welding onto the sleeve, especially where brace rods attach, can pull it slightly out of round. So I deliberately size these handles toward the small end
of the usual range. Most of the time the fit is just right. If your scoop's sleeve happens to be on the roomier side and the handle feels a touch loose, paint on thin coats of 2-part epoxy,
one at a time, until the fit is just right. Cured epoxy is very durable, but easy to sand if the last coat is a little too much.
Handles are currently available for
T-REX,
Stealth,
Xtreme,
CooB,
Stavr,
CKG,
Honey Badger, and
Dune scoops; handles to fit other models can usually be produced, as a
"special-order" item, with 6-8 weeks lead time.
Shorter custom lengths can be produced upon customer request, and two-piece travel handles are available as a "special-order" item. Longer handles and custom colors are also possible in some
cases, depending on availability from the carbon-tube factory (as "special-order" items, with 6-8 weeks lead time). Longer handles also cost more to ship, as packages over 48" are charged oversize
surcharges by the carriers.

What's included, and what you'll need — for T-Rex scoops
You get the handle itself. To fit it, you'll need to drill one hole through the handle, lined up with
your scoop's sleeve holes, and supply the bolt, washer and lock nut that hold it in place
(hardware not included). I don't pre-drill the hole, because it has to line up exactly with your
scoop's sleeve. It's an easy job, and I'm happy to walk you through it.
